Emily Tomlinson, Drawing., gesso and graphite on paper with wall drawing, 2019-20

Drawing. is a project of ongoing duration and opportunistic surface and is conceived through a system of labor-based intention and meditative action. Drawing is an instinctive task, which I use to create a space for labor and meditation to coexist. The process- tedious and repetitive, consumes every component of Drawing.– further emphasizing that specific relationship it hosts.
Emily Tomlinson is a multidisciplinary visual artist currently living in Atlanta, Georgia. She received her B.F.A. in Drawing and Painting from Georgia State University. Emily analyzes the relationship between labor and meditation through a visual language of that floats between drawing and performance. By using process and time-based systems, the products of labor vary from minimalist to maximalist, and question the values of process and product.
